Does Turnitin store your paper? Grey-market checks vs PaperMirror
TL;DR An official school submit almost always enters that school’s Turnitin corpus. You cannot see whether a grey-market / resold account ticked “do not store.” PaperMirror does not run a plagiarism corpus and does not resell official accounts. It is an AI-score self-check. Drafts never enter a comparison corpus.
“If I check it myself, will it enter a corpus?” is one of the highest-fear searches in student forums. Checking shops title every page “not stored, self-serve, official.” Students need to separate three things: the school submit, a reseller account, and an independent self-check tool.
The school submit: stored by design
Coursework and dissertations uploaded through Moodle / Canvas / the registry leave text in the similarity corpus for later students to collide with. That is how Turnitin works as an institutional product, not a bug. AI writing detection is a different model, but the draft is already in the school workflow.
Grey-market accounts: you cannot see the checkbox
- Shared instructor logins, expired trials, resold “not stored” packs — students cannot verify any of it.
- Fake reports, delays, and selling drafts to paper mills are known risks in that market.
- Buying a second run “just to see the UK AI score” hands the final to a second stranger.

Open PaperMirror- Will PaperMirror train models on my paper?
- It is not used in a public comparison corpus. History reports live on your account so you can edit a version and scan a version — not so other students can collide with your text.
Detection and rewrite are for pre-submit self-checks. Follow your school's integrity policy. PaperMirror is not Turnitin or CNKI. The school system is the source of truth.
